Les produits bio fleurissent sur les étagères des supérettes et de la grande distribution. Tendances ou simplement répondant à une envie de consommer mieux, en vaillent-il la peine ou quelquefois le surcoût lié au label ? Il existe deux labels qui stipulent le critère Bio du produit : la norme française AB (Agriculture Biologique) ou la norme européenne.
Dans son émission Capital diffusée le 10 mai dernier sur M6, un des reportages montraient l’engouement aussi des grands distributeurs à occuper une place prédominante sur le secteur, se positionnant à des prix moindres, sur les produits les plus consommés, par rapport à des supérettes spécialisées qui en avaient fait leur credo (Biocoop, ..). Cependant, pour arriver à concurrencer les spécialistes du genre, ces chaînes de la distribution font produire leurs produits bio en Egypte, qui devient par la même un des plus gros pays producteurs d’aliments bio. En apposant un label écologique sur les produits bio, n’est-il pas dans ce cas plus judicieux de consommer un produit non labélisé bio mais issu d’un producteur local, que d’acheter un produit bio en provenance du Chili ou d’Egypte, qui en rapportant cela à la consommation énergétique liée à la production du bien, le rend nettement moins « écologique » ? Un autre reportage de Télématin sur France 2, du fabuleux correspondant de la chaîne en Allemagne, Jérome BONY, affichait l’engouement des allemands par rapport à la bière produite en local, par de petites brasserie indépendantes. Redevenons des consommateurs de produits locaux, dont la provenance est connue ! Ne pouvons-nous pas dans ce cas en toute logique nous poser la question de savoir si le label bio est en ce sens une mesure protectionniste déguisée ?
